Start with the customer’s task
Before choosing colors or layouts, identify what a visitor needs to understand and do. A useful service website explains who it helps, what it provides and how to begin a conversation. Each major page should support one of those needs.
Keep what already works
Inventory existing URLs, useful content and customer journeys. A redesign is an opportunity to simplify the experience while preserving the information people depend on. Map changed addresses to their most relevant replacements before launch.
Treat content as part of the product
Clear headings, specific service descriptions and straightforward calls to action make a design more effective. Remove unsupported claims and explain technical services in terms of the work they help customers accomplish.
Plan for the whole experience
Review the site on small screens, with a keyboard and at enlarged text sizes. Check contact forms, error messages and navigation as carefully as the homepage. A polished first impression needs a dependable path all the way through.
